Getting a system from a vendor is very much like getting a cat for the summer. At the beginning you fall in love with the idea of it. Then after an eventful process of actually getting what you want you might even fall in love with the actual one. You spend time with it and you show it to people with pride. It gives you joy and removes your stress. Others benefit from it too. You feel privileged to have it.
But after a while your enthusiasm fades away and you are faced with everyday life with it. You are faced with the responsibility of ownership. Are you going to keep it? Are you going to take care of it? Are you equipped with means to take care of it? Do you need help?
When bying an IT system you are quite quickly faced with the responsibility of ownership. Even though the key purpose of an IT system is to provide value to its customers, users and ultimately owners, it can be however quite complex and it definitely needs attention. There's so much more to it than just pretty UI or sexy interface. More that the tempting promise of joy and fortunes. Despite its key purpose it needs to be maintained, updated, attached to its surroundings, whatnot. When you decide to buy an IT system, you buy all of it. Code and everything. Good days and the bad days.
Top tip: When buying an IT system, service delivery or even a cat, make sure that you have someone to help you. Even if you're absolutely sure that you're capable of handling the situation. That someone can ask just the right questions that you never thought of asking and save you from heaps of trouble.
And while at it, make sure that this someone is from Happy Monkey. :)

And so it begins...
Hello and welcome to the company blog of Happy Monkey Ltd.
We have operated for six months now. Just recently we popped our cherry and signed our first customers. Partner networks are growing and interesting opportunities are being negotiated as we speak. Things are gaining momentum so we decided to throw new website along with this blog to the mix.
The website gives good outline of what we offer as a company while this blog goes deeper to what we actually do in our daily battles. The upcoming posts will shed light into what makes our company and its people so special. We'll present interesting case examples, unique approaches, some "how did they do that?!" goodness and of course fascinating tales from great wins and spectacular losses. No politics, sensorship, commercial angles or anything else that would piss you off as a reader, and potential customer. We cannot afford nonsense and neither do you.
So stay tuned. It's going to be a wild ride. ;)
Cheers,
Sami
